Hopefully this will be more of a ‘brightest day’ situation for the Corps. Variety reports that a new Green Lantern series has been greenlit for HBO Max, with Marc Guggenheim and Seth Grahame-Smith writing and executive producing. Grahame-Smith will also be the showrunner. Berlanti Productions will produce with Warner Bros. Television.

The series was announced for development last year. The series will follow multiple Green Lanterns, including Guy Gardner, Jessica Cruz, Simon Baz and Alan Scott. Scott is the first Green Lantern, and like the comics, will be gay in the series. The series will also include Sinestro and Kilowog while introducing new heroes. Ten one-hour episodes were ordered.

This isn’t the first time Green Lantern was attempted by Warner Bros., as they produced an infamously-maligned film in 2011 starring Ryan Reynolds, something that the Deadpool movies took multiple shots at.

This isn’t the first DC show on HBO Max, either. Titans, Doom Patrol and Harley Quinn are all there or on the way. Meanwhile, Peacemaker, a spin-off of The Suicide Squad that will star John Cena, is being developed by James Gunn. Matt Reeves and Terrence Winter are also working on a Gotham PD series that will tie into The Batman. Other shows in development include Strange Adventures and Justice League Dark.
