Noah Centineo is getting his superhero on, joining Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the upcoming Black Adam film. THR reports that Centineo (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before) has been cast as Atom Smasher in the DC film, which will be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (Non-Stop, The Shallows).

Atom Smasher is the superhero persona of Albert Rothstein in the DC Universe. Created by Roy Thomas, Jerry Ordway, and Mike Machlan, he first appeared as Nukon in September 1983’s All-Star Squadron #25 and eventually took on the Atom Smasher name in JSA Secret Files and Origins #1 in August of 1999. He has the metahuman ability to control his molecular structure, which he uses to manipulate his size and strength. The role was played by Adam “Edge” Copeland on The Flash.

Plot details for the film are under wraps, but will focus on Johnson’s titular antihero. The film was written by Adam Sztykiel and is currently set to release on July 30th, 2021.
