Paul Mescal Fights For Freedom & Revenge In First Gladiator II Trailer
Paul Mescal is stepping into Russell Crowe’s sandals as the star of Gladiator II, and the first trailer teases an epic sequel. Paramount Pictures released the first trailer on Tuesday for the Ridley Scott-directed follow-up to his 2000 hit Gladiator, and you can see it below.
The trailer reveals plenty of fight footage, as well as our first look at Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, Connie Nielsen, and Joseph Quinn in the film. Scott is back behind the camera for the movie, directing from a script by David Scarpa. The film stars Mescal, Pascal, Quinn, Fred Hechinger, Lior Raz, Derek Jacobi, Nielsen and Washington and releases on November 22nd.
The synopsis reads:
From legendary director Ridley Scott, Gladiator II continues the epic saga of power, intrigue, and vengeance set in Ancient Rome. Years after witnessing the death of the revered hero Maximus at the hands of his uncle, Lucius (Paul Mescal) is forced to enter the Colosseum after his home is conquered by the tyrannical Emperors who now lead Rome with an iron fist. With rage in his heart and the future of the Empire at stake, Lucius must look to his past to find strength and honor to return the glory of Rome to its people.
