Deadline reports that Peacock currently has over 18 million paid subscribers, an increase from the last quarter. The number reported back on September 30 was 15 million, thanks to programming moved over from Hulu, sports and Universal movies.

NBCUniversal CEO Jeff Shell said that Universal now rivals Disney in animation, and he thinks Disney will end up giving them money to buy the rest of Hulu. NBCU parent company Comcast owns 33% of Hulu, but Disney has operational control. That 33% is believed to be worth tens of billions of dollars.

He said: “If you had gone back ten years and said Disney is ever going to be challenged in animation, everyone would have said that is impossible. I honestly think that… our animation rivals if not surpasses Disney. We have a put, they have a call. It’s worth a lot of money and I think there’s no indication that anything else is going to happen than Disney writing us us a big check.
