Peacock Set To Raise Prices On Both Premium Tiers By Two Dollars
Variety reports that NBCUniversal is raising subscription prices for their streaming service Peacock, with the change taking effect in July. This is a year after the last price increase. The changes begin on July 18 for new Peacock subscribers. Existing subscribers will then start paying more with their next billing date on or after August 17.
The price of Peacock Premium (with ads) will increase $2 to $7.99 a month. Peacock Premium Plus (ad-free) will also increase $2 to $13.99. The annual price for Peacock Premium will increase from $59.99 to $79.99, while Premium Plus will go up from $119.99 to $139.99.
Premium offers titles not available on the free tier. Premium Plus includes ad-free content, the ability to download episodes and live local NBC channels. Due to streaming rights, a “small amount” of programs still have ads.
At the end of the first quarter of this year, Peacock had 34 million subscribers, which is up 55% from last year and a net gain of three million. Average revenue was $10 a month. However, it’s still below the subscribers for Netflix and Disney+.
