CNN reports that New York police performed a “wellness check” for SNL cast member Pete Davidson after he posted on Instagram what appeared to be some suicidal thoughts. Earlier on Saturday (Dec. 15), Davidson wrote on his Instagram, “I really don’t want to be on this earth anymore. I’m doing my best to stay here for you but I actually don’t know how much longer I can last. All I’ve ever tried to do was help people. Just remember i told you so.”

The Instagram account was later deleted. NYPD Lt. Paul Ng said that police offers later met with Davidson at an undisclosed location. Some hours later, Davidson made appearance on last night’s edition of Saturday Night Live in a pre-recorded skit. Davidson appeared as actor Rami Malek auditioning for a role hosting the Oscars. He later introduced a live performance by Miley Cyrus and Mark Ronson.

This news follow Davidson after having a very public breakup with ex-girlfriend Ariana Grande last October. In November, Davidson received criticism for mocking the appearance of congressional candidate Dan Crenshaw. Crenshaw later appeared on the show to accept an apology from Davidson.

Earlier in December, Davidson wrote on Instagram, “I’m trying to understand how when something happens to a guy the whole entire world just trashes him without any facts or frame of reference. I just want you guys to know. No matter how hard the internet or anyone tries to make me kill myself. I won’t. I’m upset I even have to say this.”

In the past, Pete Davidson has talked about mental struggles he’s dealt with in the past, including being diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. He joined the SNL cast in 2014.

An NBC representative didn’t comment on the appearance. Davidson’s representatives have not yet commented on the matter.
