Possible Director and Synopsis For Obi-Wan Kenobi Movie Revealed

TMZ reports that Disney has released a new production bulletin that revealed their next Star Wars spin-off will be Obi-Wan: A Star Wars Story. The film currently has the working title of Joshua Tree, which isn’t uncommon for Star Wars sequels. The working title for Return of the Jedi was Blue Harvest.

The film follows Obi-Wan just before the events of A New Hope. He is on Tatooine as a hermit and watches over the infant Luke Skywalker, who is living with his uncle Owen. After tensions rise between the local farmers and a tribe of Sand People (led by a ruthless war chief), Obi-Wan comes out of hiding and takes care of things as Jedis do. Stephen Daldry is listed as a director. The film will shoot in London (at the same studio used for The Last Jedi), with production beginning next spring.

There have been fans who want Ewan McGregor to reprise the role in a future film, and he’s said he’s been open to it. Nothing’s been confirmed by Lucasfilm at this time, however.
