President Trump Responds to Spike Lee’s Oscar Speech, Calls It a ‘Racist Hit’

As previously reported, Spike Lee took home the first Oscar of his career at last night’s Academy Awards ceremony. Lee won the award for Best Adapted Screenplay for his film, BlacKkKlansman. During his acceptance speech, while he didn’t mention President Donald Trump, he did say that voters “should do the right thing” for the 2020 presidential election. As expected, President Trump did not take kindly to the filmmaker’s remarks, and he responded on his Twitter account.

Lee stated during the show, “The 2020 presidential election is around the corner. Let’s all mobilize, let’s all be on the right side of history. Make the moral choice between love versus hate. Let’s do the right the thing! You know I had to get that in there.”

President Trump wrote in response, “Be nice if Spike Lee could read his notes, or better yet not have to use notes at all, when doing his racist hit on your President, who has done more for African Americans (Criminal Justice Reform, Lowest Unemployment numbers in History, Tax Cuts, etc.) than almost any other Pres!”

Additionally, The Daily Show host Trevor Noah shared an Instagram post, showing a photo of Spike Lee writing out his acceptance speech. You can check out that post below.
