Prime Video Officially Orders God of War Live-Action Series

God of War is officially coming to the small screen, as Amazon’s Prime Video has ordered a series based on the video game. Variety reports that Rafe Judkins (Wheel of Time) will serve as showrunner for the series, which is based on the popular Playstation game franchise. Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby (Children of Men, Iron Man) are also set to write and executive produce alongside Judkins.

Santa Monica Studio’s Cory Barlog and Yumi Yang,Playstation Productions’ Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan, and Vertigo’s Roy Lee also serve as EPs.

God of War is a compelling, character-driven franchise that we believe will captivate our global customers as much with its expansive and immersive worlds as its rich storytelling,” Vernon Sanders, head of global television at Amazon Studios, said. “We are honored to share in the adventure of exploring the God of War mythology in such a momentous way with Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions, and Santa Monica Studio.”
