Production Begins On The Black Phone 2
Filming has begun on the follow-up to Scott Derrickson’s The Black Phone. Derrickson posted to his Twitter account on Monday to reveal that production has kicked off on The Black Phone 2, as you can see below.
Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill are back to write and produce the sequel, with Derrickson in the director’s chair again. Ethan Hawke will reprise his role as The Grabber in the film, starring alongside the returning Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw, Jeremy Davies, and Miguel Mora. Demián Bichir is a new cast member for the movie.
The first film stars Thames as Finney, a 13 year-old boy abducted by Hawke’s serial killer and trapped in a basement. He begins to get calls from a mysterious phone that appear to be from The Grabber’s previous victims. Plot details for the new film are under wraps.
The Black Phone was a critical and commercial hit, grossing $161.4 million worldwide against an $18 million budget. The new film will release on October 17th, 2025.
