Where are the goblins? Studio White Fox and the official website for the Goblin Slayer series have released a new preview video (PV) and key art for the upcoming anime series for Goblin Slayer. You can check out the new PV for the dark fantasy anime series in the player below.

The PV initially premiered last Sunday (July 8) at the Anime Expo during the Goblin Slayer panel. Original light novel series creator Kumo Kagyu was on hand for the panel. It was also announced by publisher GA Bunko that the show will debut later in October 2018.

Additionally, the show will get an online streaming/simulcast release. The streaming platform for the series will be announced at a later date. The series has gained a lot of attention for its at times very graphic and intense subject matter, especially the first chapter of the story after it was adapted into manga form.

Set in a fantasy world inspired by tabletop RPGs such as Dungeons & Dragons, Goblin Slayer follows the exploits of an armored adventurer who only goes by the name of Goblin Slayer. In a land that’s plagued by various demon and monsters, Goblin Slayer only seeks to hunt the lowest level of monsters, which are goblins. However, while goblins are the lowest level of all monsters, they are not lacking in their cruelty or vicious nature, something that the protagonist is very familiar with, putting him on a quest to eradicate all goblins.

The light novel series is published by Yen Press and later spawned a popular manga series, along with two spinoffs: Goblin Slayer: Year One and Goblin Slayer: Brand New Day. Author Kumo Kagyu also confirmed he’s working on another spinoff series that will be set 10 years before the current events of the main storyline and shed more light on the Sword Maiden

The anime series is being produced by White Fox, the anime studio behind such shows as Steins;Gate, Re:Zero and The Devil Is a Part-Timer! Here’s an official synopsis for the first volume of the light novel series:

“A young priestess has formed her first adventuring party, but almost immediately they find themselves in distress. It’s the Goblin Slayer who comes to their rescue–a man who’s dedicated his life to the extermination of all goblins, by any means necessary. And when rumors of his feats begin to circulate, there’s no telling who might come calling next…”

Alternatively, you can also check out the fan edit of the PV featuring some voice-over and music from the 2016 DOOM video game as Goblin Slayer fans enjoy the parallels between both properties — both have dark Byronic heroes and protagonists who are single-minded and unyielding in their desire to utterly annihilate and “rip and tear” their foes.
