Release Date Set For A Minecraft Movie Sequel

A Minecraft Movie is one of the biggest hits of 2025, and its sequel now has a release date. THR reports that Warner Bros. has set a release date of July 23rd, 2027 for the follow-up to the video game adaptation.

The first film became a smash hit in April, blowing past early expectations and grossing a total of $957.5 million worldwide against a $150 million budget. A sequel began a foregone conclusion and was reportedly to be in early development in the week after the opening weekend.

Jared Hess is back to direct the new film, which he will co-write with Chris Galletta who wrote the original. The first film starred Jack Black, Jason Momoa, Sebastian Hansen, Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks and Jennifer Coolidge.
