Zach Cregger’s next film is a reboot of Resident Evil, and it has added a few new members to the cast. THR reports that Zach Cherry (Severance), Kali Reis (True Detective: Night Country), and Johnno Wilson (Twisted Metal) have signed onto roles in the video game adaptation, which the Weapons and Barbarian director is at the helm of.

Cherry, who plays Dylan in Severance, is reportedly sey to play a scientist at a hospital. Reis will play a former member of the military, while Wilson’s role is not known. The trio join Austin Abrams (Weapons) in the film, which Cregger co-wrote with Shay Hatten (John Wick: Chapter 3 and Chapter 4).

Specific plot details are not known for the film, though Abrams is said to be playing a hapless courier delivering a “mysterious package” into Raccoon City when things go awry in the city. The movie begins shooting later this month in Prague for a September 18th, 2026 release.

The last film based on the video game franchise was Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City and proved to be a disappointment with $17 million domestically and $41.9 million worldwide against a $25 million budget.
