Roseanne Barr Now Claims Her Show Was Cancelled Because She Defended Israel

The Times of Israel reports that Roseanne Barr remains defiant over the cancellation of the revival of her ABC sitcom, Roseanne, after speaking out at the Tel Aviv International Salon in Israel. Barr is now claiming she was fired by ABC because she’s a staunch supporter and defender of Israel.

Previously, ABC had cancelled the show in May 2018 after she posted a tweet likening former President Barack Obama’s aide Valerie Jarrett to an ape. According to Barr, ABC really cancelled the revival because of a Palestinian-led BDS movement. She stated at the conference, “I was BDSed by ABC. The BDS website states that it “works to end international support for Israel’s oppression of Palestinians.”

Barr was visiting the country as part of a four-day trip that was arranged by Rabbi Smuley Boteach. Barr added, “I feel like I’ve apologized to people who didn’t understand my tweet, people who were too (expletive) stupid.” Regarding her visit, she stated, “I have witnessed horrific anti-Semitism and I’m just here to defend the Jewish people.”

She also stated, “I went on Twitter for the express purpose of defending Israel.” In the past, Barr has stated her tweet about Jarrett was misinterpreted.

Also, The Associated Press (via Newser.com) reports that Roseanne Barr admitted that she has trolled critics online with fake social media accounts.

ABC later brought back the rest of the cast of Roseanne in a new spinoff, The Conners, last October where the Roseanne character was killed offscreen.
