Roseanne Barr Says She Begged ABC Not to Cancel Roseanne

Roseanne Barr said in another tweetstorm on Thursday and Friday that she “begged” ABC not to cancel Roseanne over her racist tweet. In now-deleted posts (per HuffPost, the comedienne said that she “begged Ben Sherwood at ABC [to] let me apologize & make amends. I begged them not to cancel the show. I told them I was willing to do anything & asked [for] help in making things right.”

Barr said that she told Sherwood that she thought Valerie Jarrett, who she referred to as a combination of the Muslim Brotherhood and Planet of the Apes, was white, saying, “she looks like my family!” She said that she “begged [for] my crew’s jobs” and lamented she was ashamed to think that Jayden Rey, who played the daughter of her character’s son DJ, “would ever think I do not love her [because] she is African American. It’s the most gawd awful painful thing.”
