Sony Confirms God of War Series at Amazon, Horizon Series on Netflix
Sony is going hard on TV series adaptations, announcing a God of War series on Amazon and a Horizon series on Netflix. IGN reports that during Sony’s investor briefing this week, it was confirmed that the studio is bringing God of War to series format for Prime Video while a TV adaptation of their popular Horizon franchise is headed to Netflix. In addition, a Gran Turismo series is in the works for an as-yet unannounced platform.
Sony has been going deep on adaptations of their game franchises, with a The Last Of Us series in production for HBO and Uncharted becoming a hit for Sony Pictures.
There’s no word on when the series may enter production or be released. The God of War series was first reported on in March.
Sony IR – 3 positives in the presentation 1) Horizon (Netflix), God of War (Amazon) and Gran Turismo in TV development 2) 2 live service games coming in FY3/23 are not Destiny and 3) PC gaming revenues will surge 3.8x in FY3/23 (which I think relates to live service games) #sony
