Venom: Let There Be Carnage has moved its release date again — but forward this time, not backward. Sony Pictures has announced that the Venom sequel, which is part of the Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, will now release on October 1st instead of the most recently-planned October 15th date.

The move comes after Marvel struck gold with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which grossed $94.7 million over the four-day Labor Day weekend and $150.9 million worldwide. Sony has bumped Let There Be Carnage multiple times during the pandemic, but the strength of Shang-Chi apparently wants them striking while the iron is still potentially hot.

The film is directed by Andy Serkis and stars Tom Hardy, Woody Harrelson, Michelle Williams, Reid Scott and Naomie Harris.
