Star Trek 4 Has Reportedly Been Shelved

Paramount Pictures has reportedly put a halt on plans for a fourth film in the rebooted Star Trek universe. Deadline included the revelation in an aside while discussing director SJ Clarkson coming on board to direct the Game of Thrones prequel pilot.

Deadline noted that Clarkson “recently became available.” Clarkson was tapped to direct the fourth Star Trek, but the outlet noted that “that project has since been shelved.” The future of the film series was said to be in doubt after negotiations with Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth had stalled. Hemsworth was in talks to come back as Kirk’s deceased father, George Kirk.
