Steven Yeun will not be joining Marvel’s Thunderbolts film after all, exiting the film due to scheduling issues. Deadline reports that the Minari and Walking Dead star has departed the antihero team-up film after production on the project was delayed due to the now-resolved WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
Yeun’s role in the film was never confirmed. He was set to join Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Sebastian Stan and Wyatt Russell in the movie, which was set to begin filming last year but had to be delayed due to the strikes to this year. Jake is Schreier is directing the film from a script by Eric Pearson.
Plot details on the film are unknown though Pugh, Harbour, Stan and Russell will be reprising their roles as Yelena Belova, Red Guardian, Winter Solder and US Agent. Hannah John-Kamen, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Olga Kurylenko have also reportedly been set to return in the film, which is set for a July 25th, 2025 release.
