Terminator 2, Home Alone & More Added To National Film Registry

The Library of Congress has announced the 2023 additions to the National Film Registry including Terminator 2, Home Alone and others. Deadline reports that the Library announced the 25 additions selected for preservation this year. The Registry preserves up to 25 films each year that have are “culturally, historically or aesthetically significant” and showcase the range and diversity of American film heritage.

This year’s films range in dates from 1921 (A Movie Trip Through Filmland to 2013 (the documentary 20 Feet from Stardom). Among the other films selected include Henry Selick’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, Steve McQueen’s 12 Years a Slave, Ron Howard’s Apollo 13 and the acclaimed 2000 film Love & Basketball.

The new additions bring the total list up to 875. Movies must be at least 10 years old to be eligible and are chosen by Librarian of Conrgess Carla Hayden, with consultation from members of the National Film Preservation Board and other specialists. You can see the full list of additions below:
