The Office creator Greg Daniels says that he has no plans currently to bring more original cast members into its spinoff The Paper. The spinoff is set to premiere on Peacock on September 4th with all 10 episodes of its first season, and Daniels spoke with EW for a feature about the new show. You can see a couple of highlights below:

On the potential for more Office characters to show up: “We’re letting the show live on its own. Or die on its own. But you never know.”

On why Oscar was the obvious choice to bring back in: “As a character, he hadn’t really had an enormous change. He’s pretty much the same person. A lot of the other characters had massive change: Michael got married and moved to Colorado, Dwight and Angela turned into different people. One of the things that appealed to us was that Oscar had some untold stories left in him… It’s wonderful to have him there, and he provides a linkage… your expectation is not that he’s going to drive every story.”

On the spinoff having a different approach than the original: “That workplace [The Office] was so much about people trying to have a decent life and not get too bummed out at a very boring job. [In The Paper] the boss is actually inspirational to the staff, and they get on board with this super low percentage of winning.”
