The Punisher Showrunner Tapped For Amazon’s Spider-Man Noir Series

Amazon’s Spider-Man Noir live-action series is bringing in someone with experience in street-level Marvel heroes, namely Steve Lightfoot. Variety reports that Amazon has tapped Lightfoot, who was showrunner on Netflix’s The Punisher series, to serve as co-showrunner on the upcoming Spider-Verse series.

Lightfoot will share showrunning duties with series writer Oren Uziel. In addition to his work on The Punisher, Lightfoot created and served as showrunner on the Apple TV+ series Shantaram.

Spider-Man Noir is one of two projects from Sony’s Spider-Verse stable to be in the works at Amazon. The other is the series Silk: Spider Society, which will be lead by showrunner Angela Kang. Several other shows are in the works, and there’s no word on which other characters may be featured in the shows.

Spider-Man Noir was developed by Uziel alongside Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) and Amy Pascal, all of whom will executive produce. The series will focus on the Spider-Man Noir character, an older and cynical version of the character in 1930s New York. According to Variety, the show will be set in its own universe and the main character will not be Peter Parker, unlike the comic iteration of the character.

Nicolas Cage voiced the older Peter Parker take on Spider-Man Noir in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
