Morpheus’ first step into live action was a successful one, as The Sandman topped the Netflix viewing charts in its first few days. Netflix released their latest top 10 viewing numbers for the week on Tuesday, with the adaptation of the acclaimed Neil Gaiman taking the top spot with 69.48 million hours viewed for three days in the week ending August 7th.

In complete fairness, that number is well below the likes of Stranger Things Volume 4, which logged 286.79 million hours when part one launched in May. But this show was never expected to top the numbers of that phenomenon. Even with a dedicated fanbase of the comics, The Sandman is a new series and its start is very solid for such. (By comparison, The Lincoln Lawyer notched 45.09 million viewers in its first few days in early May and First Kill logged 30.34 million hours). The big question will be this week when it has a full week to perform; considering the positive critical reaction and fan buzz, it is expected to top its first few day numbers with ease.

Coming in at #2 was Keep Breathing, which logged 54.73 million hours in its second week (the first week brought 48.09 million hours). #3 went to last week’s #1 in Virgin River Season 4 (46.93 million hours), followed by Stranger Things Volume 4 (44.76 million hours) and Manifest season one (36.69 million hours).
