Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri Wins Big at BAFTAs

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri closed some ground with The Shape of Water in the Oscar race during Sunday night’s BAFTAs. The Martin McDonagh-directed film took home the most awards at the British Acadamy of Film and Television Awards on Sunday night, winning five statues. The wins included awards for Best Film, Outstanding British Film (McDonagh is British), Best Leading Actress (Frances McDormand), Best Supporting Actor (Sam Rockwell), and Best Original Screenplay.

While it didn’t win Best Film, The Shape of Water did take home three awards. They included Best Director (Guillermo del Toro), Best Original Music, and Best Production Design. The award ceremony gave Three Billboards some momentum after Shape of Water dominated recent award shows, including top wins at the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards, the Producers Guild of America Awards, and the Directors Guild of America Awards.
