Paramount is looking at several different possible directions for a fourth Star Trek film, with three scripts reportedly in development. Zachary Quinto spoke with ET and said that there are several different takes for Star Trek 4 in the works, including Quentin Tarantino’s currently in-the-works take.

“First of all, I think there’s a couple of scripts,” Quinto said. “Because there was a script being written before Quentin Tarantino came up with his idea for a potential film. And so I think they are kind of developing more than one. So I don’t know what is going to happen.”

In addition to that script written beforehand and Tarantino’s, Simon Pegg and Doug Jung (Star Trek Beyond) are working on a third script. “All of us are really excited about the idea of working with Quentin on a Trek film, but I know Simon Pegg and Doug Jung, who wrote the last film, are writing a script and there are another set of writers writing a script,” Quinto said. “So I don’t know. I don’t know what’s going to happen.”

Tarantino’s R-rated take is being written by Mark L. Smith (The Revenant). There’s no word on which story will move forward, or when it might begin filming.
