Todd McFarlane Says Things Are ‘Heating Up’ Around Spawn Animated Series

Todd McFarlane says that there’s been an increase in the intensity of discussions around a Spawn animated series as of late. McFarlane has been tried to get new adaptations of his comic book property in both animated and live-action form off the ground, and during a discussion on Joe Quesada’s Joe Q’s Mornin’ Warm Up he discussed the status of his planned animated series.

“I was having a conversation about animation yesterday with a pretty big animation house,” McFarlane said (per JoBlo). “So those topics are heating up. I know that people are saying that, ‘Todd, you talk a lot about the movie and the Hollywood stuff and nothing’s really happening’, and that’s not true. Especially with production being shut down.”

If the project does get off the ground it would be the second animated series, following the critically and fan-loved Spawn: The Animated Series which aired on HBO for three seasons starting in 1997.
