DC Studios has found its Clayface in Tom Rhys Harries. THR reports that the studio has cast the Welsh actor to play the titular role in the Mike Flanagan-written horror-tinged movie.

James Watkins, who directed the Speak No Evil remake, will helm the film, which is budgeted well below your average superhero film at $40 million. The site reports that Harries beat out the likes of Jack O’Connell, Tom Blyth and George MacKay for the role.

DC announced in December of last year that the film, which will center on the Batman villain, will release on September 11th, 2026. Plot details are being kept under wraps around the movie.

Clayface was originally Basil Karlo in the DC Comics, one of Batman’s better-known villains and a horror actor who becomes living clay with the ability to transform himself. A number of other characters have taken the identity including Matt Hagen in the 1960s, Preston Payne in the late 1970s and Sondra Fuller (aka Lady Clay) in the 1980s, though Karlo is the best-known and most commonly-used person in the identity.
