Alicia Vikander is set to return to the Tomb Raider franchise, with a sequel in the works. EW reports that MGM and Warner Bros. have tapped Amy Jump (High Rise, Free Fire to write a script for a sequel to last year’s film, with Vikander returning as Lara Croft.
Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Alastair Siddons co-wrote the first film, which was not beloved by critics and not a huge hit but made enough for a small profit, with $274.7 million worldwide. The first film saw Croft’s origin story as she sought answers regarding her father’s mysterios death. The film teased a greater conspiracy at the end and while plot details have yet to be revealed for the new movie, one might imagine that the Trinity organization will factor into the sequel.
