True Detective Creator Tapped For Writing Duties On Marvel’s Blade

Mahershala Ali is reuniting with True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto, who has been brought in for writing duties on Blade. THR reports that Marvel has tapped Pizzolatto to co-write the upcoming MCU film, which is looking at a late May production start. Yann Demange, who directed the pilot of HBO’s Lovecraft Country is directing the MCU film.

Ali is starring as the titular character. He previously starred on season three of True Detective. Also starring in the film are Mia Goth and Delroy Lindo, whose roles have not yet been revealed.

Pizzolatto is working on the current scrupt by Michael Starrbury (When They See Us) and has been working on it for a few weeks, according to the report.

The film is set to be Blade’s official introduction to the MCU; Ali voiced the character in a post-credits stinger for Eternals, where the character was off-screen and had an interaction with Dane Whitman (Kit Harrington). Blade is set to release on September 6th, 2024.
