Keanu Reeves is getting another chance at Constantine, as Warner Bros. is teaming Reeves and Francis Lawrence back up for a sequel to the 2005 film. Deadline reports that the studio is developing a sequel to the film, with Reeves back to play his take on the titular role while Lawrence will return to direct the film. The movie will be written by Akiva Goldsman, who will also produce through his Weed Road Pictures alongside J.J. Abrams and Hannah Minghella for Bad Robot.

The original film grossed $221.6 million worldwide in 2005, making it profitable against a $75 million budget. However, a polarizing response due in part to the film’s divergence from the source material combined with a mixed critical reception to leave Warner Bros. cold on a follow-up. The film has received a re-appraisal by many fans over the years, and Reeves has often said he would like to revisit the role.

The original film also starred Rachel Weisz, Shia LaBeouf, Tilda Swinton, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Djimon Hounsou, and Peter Stormare as Lucifer. It moved the action from the source material’s traditional stomping grounds of London to L.A. and made Constantine an American.

Plot details for the sequel have yet to be revealed.
