It was announced during DC FanDome on Saturday (per JoBlo that Warner Bros. is developing a feature film based on the character. Producer Reginald Hudlin made the announcement during the panel that announced that the Milestone imprint would be returning to DC Comics.

Static was created by Milestone founders Dwayne McDuffie, Denys Cowan, Michael Davis, and Derek T. Dingle and made his debut in 1993’s Static #1. Static was among the first comics created by Milestone, which was founded with the belief that people of color were underrepresented in the industry, both on the page and behind the scenes. Static became the most popular of the characters and while the imprint was shut down in 1997, the Milestone Universe was integreated into the DC Universe in 2010.

Static, a metahuman with the ability to harness electromagnetism, has appeared not only in comics but in his own animated series as well as Justice League Unlimited and Young Justice. He had a non-speaking role in the DC Animated Universe film Justice League: War.
