Warner Bros. has set the date for when The Matrix 4 will be unleashed, and it will put Keanu Reeves up against himself. The studio announced on Wednesday that the long-anticipated sequel will release in theaters on May 21st, 2021.

That move puts the film on the same release date as John Wick: Chapter 4 which of course stars Reeves, as does the Matrix film. It is entirely possible that Lionsgate could move the John Wick release date, of course; something similar happened when Marvel put Captain America: Civil War up against Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice which ultimately caused Warner Bros to move the DC film back three months.

The Matrix 4 is directed by Lana Wachowski from a script she co-wrote with Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell. The film stars Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Jada Pinkett Smith, Jessica Henwick, Neil Patrick Harris, Toby Onwumere and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.

As previously reported Warner Bros. also announced the release dates for The Flash and Shazam.
