X-Men ’97 EP Gives Update On Season 2 Progress, Says Fans Need To Be ‘Patient’
X-Men ’97 concluded its first season last week, and an executive producer on the show gave an update on season two’s status. The animated series aired its season one finale last Wednesday on Disney+, and the second season has been confirmed to be on thew way. But as EP Brad Winderbaum told ComicBook.com, the company is still fairly early in the animation process of season two.
“It’s still an animatic phase,” Wanderbaum told the site. “Animation takes so long to make as I’m sure you know. There was a great bit about this in Invincible Season 2. They just nailed it so hard, it is the greatest.”
Wanderbaum added, “And it takes a long time. Because the studio wants to see how successful the first season is before they greenlight the second season there’s a lag. We were lucky enough to get the greenlight before we aired so there’s maybe less of a lag. People are just going to have to be patient with us.”
The first season, which was a major hit with critics and fans, followed directly on the events of the original X-Men: The Animated Series.
