Xochitl Gomez made her MCU debut as America Chavez in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and the actress shared what may be next in the character’s future. Gomez played the character in Sam Raimi’s MCU sequel and spoke with Collider, during which she discussed where the multiversal character may go from here.

“Well, I mean, at this point, you know…she’s getting over her trust issues, obviously,” Gomez said. “And I feel like she just needs a place to call home and she needs some discipline and structure in her life. And I think Wong is doing that.”

Gomez added, “But I think one thing she definitely needs to learn is she needs to learn to work with others. Obviously, she’s been working alone, and she’s also just been destined to be a leader. So in order to be a leader, you also have to learn to work with others and help one another. And I think she has the qualities to be an amazing leader, but I think there’s a few other things she has to learn first.”

In the comics, Gomez is a member of the Young Avengers alongside other characters in the MCU such as Kate Bishop, young Loki, Wiccan, Patriot (Elijah Bradley), and Stinger (Cassie Lang). Marvel has yet to confirm an appearance of the Young Avengers together, though they could always come into play in the two films announced at San Diego COmic-Con in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. There are also several unnamed MCU films that have been set for Phase Six.
