Young Avengers Creator Developing Marvel Superheroine Series For ABC

The co-creator of the Young Avengers comic is at work on a Marvel Superheroine series for ABC. Deadline reports that ABC has given a production commitment to the show, which Allan Heinberg will create and will center on female superpowered characters and utilize “lesser known Marvel characters.” Heinberg had success in superhero filmmaking recently, as he wrote the script for Wonder Woman which he had also written the comic version of.

At this time, it isn’t known which characters will be used. However, it is worth noting that Heinberg has written one very popular (and critically-acclaimed) younger female superhero from Marvel during his Young Avengers run, specifically Kate Bishop who he co-created with artist Jim Cheung. Kate is better known as the younger version of Hawkeye.

While a release date has yet to be reported, the show isn’t likely to debut until at least fall of 2019 due to production schedules, developmental time and a number of other factors.
