AJ Styles Reflects On Chemistry With John Cena, Cena’s Understanding Of the Crowd

AJ Styles counts John Cena as one of his great in-ring rivals, and he recently reflected on their in-ring chemistry. Styles and Cena battled on a number of occasions in WWE, including WWE Money in the Bank 2016 where Styles beat Cena with help from Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson.
Styles spoke on that match on the latest WWE Retrospective and spoke about his chemistry with Cena in the ring. You can see the highlights below:
On His Chemistry With Cena:
“We never had a bad match, I know that. We never had a bad match. There was something about the timing that we had with everything about it. It’s not often that you get in the ring and two guys have the same timing for everything, but he was so there on everything I did. It was amazing.”
On Cena’s In-Ring Work:
“Listen, I made a mistake at some point in my career when I said that I would listen to Cena when it came to promos, but he could listen to me when we got in the ring. I was wrong. I’ve never seen anybody so understanding what the crowd wants when they want it. He listens to the crowd and understands it more, better than anybody I’ve ever been in the ring with. I learned something that day. Just because Cena may not be able to do, I don’t think not one flip, doesn’t mean that he’s not one of the best to do it in the ring.”
