As previously reported, AEW’s Jeff Jarrett is set for action at the CMLL 93rd Anniversary Show, where he will face Blue Panther. During today’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio (via F4WOnline.com), Dave Meltzer reported that Jarrett is hoping to turn his upcoming CMLL appearance into an ongoing run.
Meltzer stated that the 59-year-old WWE Hall of Famer wants to be a semi-regular talent in CMLL. He explained, “What I can say, and I don’t know if this is going to transpire, but I do know for a fact that Jeff Jarrett is very interested in actually not doing a one-and-done, but actually not being a regular, not like going down every Friday, but being like a semi-regular from AEW who’s going to go and work a program and build a big match and things like that.”
He compared it to Johnny TV’s (aka John Morrison) run in the promotion, stating, “Similar probably to what Johnny TV did, except bigger. At least that’s his hope. May not happen.”
Jarrett recently competed at Arena Mexico for the Grand Slam Mexico edition of AEW Dynamite, which also featured CMLL talents. Jarrett wrestled in a dark match, teaming with Brillante Jr., Mascara Dorada, Orange Cassidy, and Roderick Strong against the team of Nick Wayne, The Dogs (Clark Connors & David Finlay), and The Swirl (Blake Christian & Lee Johnson). Jarrett’s team scored the victory.
