Backstage Notes on William Regal & Fit Finlay Returning to WWE NXT TV for Birthright Angle

Last night’s edition of WWE NXT TV saw a shocking appearance from William Regal and Fit Finlay, who appeared to be leading the attack by Charlie Dempsey on Tavion Heights, and it looks like they appear to be acting mentors for the new Birthright stable. PWInsider Elite (via WrestlingInc.com) has more details on Regal’s WWE TV return.

According to PWInsider Elite’s report, Regal and Finlay will now be regularly appearing on NXT following last night’s angle. The report also notes that Regal has been off the road for WWE for a while, primarily working on the main roster in a behind-the-scenes capacity.

It was reported earlier this year by The Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Regal was part of WWE’s main roster creative team, along with Michael Hayes. Regal’s appearance on last night’s NXT was his first time around the WWE Performance Center in a while, along with his first WWE TV appearance in recent memory.

Regal had last appeared on WWE programming last September on the NXT Homecoming special. Following last night’s NXT, Fit Finlay shared a photo on his X account, showing himself and Regal standing alongside Charlie Dempsey, Lexis King, Channing Stacks Lorenzo, Uriah Connors, and Arianna Grace. So, it appears that Regal and Finlay will be helping to mentor and guide the group on a regular basis moving forward.
