CM Punk Fires Back At Critics Of Cam Skattebo’s Appearance On WWE Raw

CM Punk did not mince words when talking about Giants fans who were critical of Cam Skattebo’s appearance on this week’s WWE Raw. As noted, the New York Giants running back attended Monday’s show. He got briefly involved in a segment involving the Judgment Day, backing up comedian Andrew Schulz in a ringside scuffle.
Apparently that did not sit well with some Giants fans. Skattebo is out of action after undergoing surgery for an open dislocation to his ankle. He got pushback from people for agreeing to a physical angle while injured. NFL alumnus T.J. Ward was among those, writing on Twitter, “This how you make sure you have a short NFL career.”
Punk was asked during an appearance on Barstool Sports’ The Yak about the matter and pushed back against the criticism. He also threw in a shot at the Giants for good measure. You can see highlights below:
On Whether It’s Fair Skattebo Is Getting Criticism For Appearing On Raw:
“I mean, life’s not fair but I think that those are just stupid Giants fans. Like, do you want to alienate him any more? So he doesn’t want to play for your s**ty franchise? Yeah, I said it.”
On Skattebo Not Doing Anything Outside the Norm:
“I mean, I don’t know the politics of the Giants and their fans and all that other stuff, but it seems ridiculous to me.. Celebrities and sports stars have been uh intermingling with pro wrestling since the beginning of time, you know? So like, I don’t understand what [they] are upset about. Dude’s out with a broken leg. He broke his leg for you, playing for your football Giants. And now you’re just going to try and be upset at him? For what? I don’t understand it.”
“If he did a backflip off the top rope and like, re-injured himself or did anything that would impede his recovery, I get it. But he didn’t do any of that.”
