Cody Rhodes Says WrestleMania 42 Has Been His Favorite Since He Returned To WWE

Cody Rhodes quite enjoyed WrestleMania 42, revealing on WWE: Unreal that it’s been his favorite WrestleMania since he returned to the company. The Undisputed WWE Champion defended his title against Randy Orton in the main event of the show’s first night. The feud between Orton and Rhodes became a flashpoint for criticism from fans due to the involvement of Pat McAfee and Jelly Roll, which was widely cited as an example of TKO enforcing creative will on WWE storylines.

Rhodes appeared on the new season of WWE Unreal, which premiered today on Netflix, and spoke about the matter. He talked about how McAfee’s involvement was going to piss off wrestling fans, but that he never got angry about the storyline. You can see highlights below (per Fightful):

“Pat McAfee is a massive star. He has eyeballs on everything that he does. Should Pat McAfee be involved with Randy Orton going for his 15th championship? You think about things wrestling fans have gotten mad about in the past, this had the potential to be that. The crowd will say, ‘Hey, no, Pat should not be behind Randy Orton.’ It’s almost full blown sacrilege.”

On the Direction of the Feud:

“I never got on the side of being angry and frustrated. If we can’t take these ingredients and put them together and make something special, I don’t know if we’re worth the WrestleMania main event.”

On the PLE:

“I probably enjoyed WrestleMania 42 more than I’ve enjoyed any WrestleMania since I’ve been back because I got tasked with, can you keep this on the tracks?”
