During a recent interview with VLAD TV, WWE Hall of Fame D-Von Dudley spoke about his relationship with the late wrestler and former ECW alumnus, New Jack, recalling their infamous beef. D-Von also spoke about the incident that led to New Jack getting angry with him about using a piece fo Tupac lyrics for a WWE album.

New Jack got so angry at the jab that he threatened to kill D-Von. However, in later years, the two reconciled and made amends before New Jack’s passing. D-Von also reacted to a clip of New Jack filmed before his passing, recalling the infamous incident involving Vic Grimes in XPW, where he threw Grimes from scaffolding, but instead of going through the tables as planned, he missed most of them and had an ugly landing. New Jack claimed he did it on purpose out of revenge for a past incident with Grimes. Below are some highlights:

D-Von Dudley on the Start of His Real-Life Feud With New Jack

“We did have some beef and, you know, it was going back and forth for a while. And the song we had enough um that we did for the WWE album, you know, because he was taking jabs at me left and right. And when WWE asked us to do a song on the album, I was like, ‘Okay.’ They were like, ‘And you can come up with anything you want.’ I said, ‘Anything?’ They said, ‘Anything.’ I said, ‘Okay, cool.’ So, I took a piece from Tupac because I knew Jack loved Tupac, and I was a Biggie fan. So what I did was I took a piece out of Tupac and put that in the lyrics and actually put his name in it, and it pissed him off royally. Oh god, it pissed him off. He went nuts, and he threatened to kill me, shoot me, everything. And I knew I got underneath his skin at that point. And you know the Dudley Boyz were known for getting under people’s skin, and I did just that. But some years went by, and we were still feuding and carrying on.”

On Reconciling With New Jack Before His Death

“But you know, I was happy to say that even a few years prior to his death, we talked about it, and we both realized that we were two guys that basically really cared for one another, you know, the friendship. And we let something like that stupidness come in between us for so long. And we buried the hatchet. And I remember the last time I spoke to him, the last time I saw him was at an independent show. And we had went on first cuz Bubba Politic is way getting us into going first as opposed to last. And we went on first. I got showered and dressed. We’re about to leave, and I saw Jack there. And I was just like, ‘When are you going on?’ He goes, ‘Right after intermission.’

“I was like, ‘All right.’ I was like, he’s like, ‘You guys getting out of here?’ I said, ‘Yeah, we’re leaving.’ And he was like, ‘All right, man.’ He was like, ‘Give me a call.’ I said, ‘I definitely will, Jack.’ And, you know, we did the whole, you know, handshake, bring him into me. And I remember we both said each other at the same time, ‘Love you, bro.’ And I was like, ‘No, I love you.’ He’s like, ‘No, I love you.’ And we separated and went our separate ways. And I talked to him a couple of times after that on the phone, talking about the business and how it treated us and things like that. And that was the last time I spoke to him.”
