Disney Releases Final Trailer for Live-Action Remake of Moana

Walt Disney Studios debuted the final trailer for the new live-action remake of Moana. The new version of the classic Disney movie features Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who reprises his role as Maui from the animated franchise.

The upcoming remake stars Catherine Lagaʻaia as the titular character. It also stars John Tui as Moana’s no-nonsense father, Chief Tui; Frankie Adams, who portrays Moana’s playful and strong-willed mother, Sina; and Rena Owen as Moana’s revered Gramma Tala. It’s directed by Thomas Kail.

The new version of the Disney classic is produced by Johnson, Dany Garcia, Beau Flynn, Hiram Garcia, and Lin-Manuel Miranda. It’s also executive produced by Kail, Scott Sheldon, Charles Newirth, and Auliʻi Cravalho, who voiced Moana in the animated films. The remake features original songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foaʻi, and Mark Mancina, plus an original score composed by Mancina.

Disney’s Moana arrives exclusively in theaters July 10, 2026.
