Don Callis Says He’s Been ‘Super Impressed’ With Chris Jericho Since His AEW Return

Don Callis may not be a fan of Chris Jericho as a person, but he says he is a fan of what Jericho’s been doing since he returned to AEW. Jericho returned to AEW after nearly a year away on the April1st episode of Dynamite. Since then, he has feuded with Ricochet and then Tommaso Ciampa, who he will face in a No Holds Barred match at AEW Redemption.

Callis spoke with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp for a new interview and during the conversation, he spoke about Jericho’s return and more. You can see the highlights below:

On the Importance of Canadian Talent in Wrestling:

“Look at like the business without Edge, without Christian, without Jericho, without some of those guys. It’s like shocking, right? Even you look the business without me. What if I’d never booked Jericho / Omega for New Japan? What happens? Does Chris Jericho retire? What does he do? So it’s kind of like the what if game. It’s like, ‘Hey, if that Canadian talent in that time capsule never existed, how many memories don’t we have of like Jericho and Edge and Christian, all these guys are now with AEW, that you can still see them performing at a super high level?”

On Jericho’s Return:

“I’m not a fan of Jericho personally. It’s kind of like we’re really good friends that don’t get along, like step brothers or something, right? But I will say this, I’ve been super impressed with him since he’s been back. Guy’s in phenomenal shape, how he does what he does at any age, but as an older guy like me, is just to me incredible. It’s been very impressive. I thought he looked great on Dynamite this past week at Beach Break.”
