DOUKI, El Desperado, & Kosei Fujita Set for NJPW Best of the Super Juniors 33 Tournament

New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) announced the first entrants for the Best of the Super Juniors 33 tournament. The first three participants include reigning IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Douki, Best of the Super Juniors 32 winner Kosei Fujita, and, finally, former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion El Desperado.
NJPW will be announcing three wrestlers for the tournament daily until Thursday, April 2. This year’s tournament kicks off on May 14 at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
DOUKI has been the Junior Heavyweight Champion since October, winning the belt at Road to King of Pro Wrestling: Night 2. Meanwhile, El Desperado is a five-time former Junior Heavyweight Champion and a four-time Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion. He also won the 2024 Best of the Super Juniors Tournament.
Kosei Fujita, besides winning last year’s tournament, is a two-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion with Robbie Eagles. He’s also the co-winner of the 2024 Super Junior Tag League with Eagles.
NJPW’s Best of the Super Jr. 33 Tournament will conclude on June 7 in Ota, Japan. You can view today’s announcement video below:
