AEW star Eddie Kingston recently opened up about his mental state after he picked up a leg injury last year. The Mad King suffered a torn ACL and meniscus while battling Gabe Kidd in a No Rope Last Man Standing Match at the NJPW Strong Resurgence pay-per-view in May 2024.
Eddie Kingston recently appeared on AEW Close Up, where he revealed to host Renee Paquette how he reacted when the reality dawned on him that he might be consigned to the shelf for an extended period of time.
The Mad King stated that it “kicked in” the moment the doctor diagnosed his injury, adding that he took it for what it was.
“It kicked in the moment it happened. It kicked in the moment they said it’s broken. It kicked in the moment the doctor goes, ‘You knew something was wrong?’ And I said, ‘Yeah!’ He goes, ‘You popped your ACL and your MCL.’ And I said, ‘Yeah, okay.’ I just took it for what it was,” he said.
Following an extended hiatus, Eddie Kingston returned to the squared circle at AEW All Out 2025, where he defeated Big Bill in a singles match. He joined forces with HOOK at AEW WrestleDream Tailgate Brawl to defeat The Frat House in a tag team match. Only time will tell what the future holds for Kingston in All Elite Wrestling.
