An update on the nature and severity of the recent injury suffered by AAA Latin American Champion El Hijo del Vikingo.
As noted previously, Vikingo was set to defend the AAA Latin American Championship against EK Prosper this past Tuesday night on WWE NXT.
However, the match never happened, as Keanu Carver took out Vikingo in a backstage segment at the start of the show. False Finish and PWInsider subsequently reported that Vikingo suffered an injury while preparing for his match ahead of the show.
PWInsider Elite [accessed by Wrestling Observer] and False Finish have since confirmed that Vikingo suffered a knee injury this past Tuesday. Sources indicated that his left knee is badly swollen, and the company is awaiting MRI results to determine the extent of the injury.
This is a setback for El Hijo del Vikingo, as this is not the first time that he has suffered a knee injury. He has previously been out of action for extended periods due to the recurring issue.
