Gunther Details His Plans For Last Week’s WWE Raw Promo, Change In Fans’ Reaction To Him

Gunther says he thought a lot about his to approach his promo on last week’s WWE Raw before realizing that he just had to rub retiring John Cena in. The Ring General has become the most hated man in WWE after he made Cena tap out at Saturday Night’s Main Event. He followed that up with a promo on Raw where he bragged about making Cena “tap out like a little bitch.”

Gunther weighed in on the promo and the change in fans’ reaction to him on The Masked Man Show>. You can check out the highlights below:

On the Reaction From the Fans Following His Win Over Cena:

“Yeah, in WWE for sure. It’s true, because I agree with you. I feel like I got booed before and I got those reactions, but I always felt like a little bit of a subconscious respect for the work I do in the ring. And yeah, I feel like that’s gone.

“And I think that’s good. I enjoyed it, because I’m not out here to — I don’t care what people have to say or judge or whatever. I know what I do and I know what I can do and what I can’t, and I really don’t care about anybody else’s judgment about that. So it’s a good, I feel like we’ve reached a really good point there.”

On His Raw Promo:

“And also like Monday before going out — because I compared it to, it was like, ‘Okay, today I’m gonna walk out first. What do I say to them? Like, what do I tell them?’ And I compared it a little bit. There was like the the first promo with Brock after he beat Taker, or I compared it to a little bit like Roman’s promo where he said, ‘It’s my yard now,’ and all that stuff. And I was like, ‘Oh, what’s the big message?’

“I had something prepared, but I knew the whole time it was like, ‘I don’t have to talk today. They’re done. Like, there’s nothing, I’m just gonna rub it in.’ And as soon as I walked out I was like, ‘I’m just gonna [take] this in now because I’m gonna enjoy it.'”
