Jackie Redmond Confirms Post-Show Interview With Cody Rhodes Was an Unscripted, Impromptu Moment

The whole wrestling world is buzzing as the legendary career of John Cena came to an end last night at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. Cena lost by submission, tapping out to the Sleeper Hold by Gunther in the main event. As previously reported, Jackie Redmond caught up with an emotional Cody Rhodes, who discussed the main event early on during the post-show.

According to Jackie Redmond in a post on social media, her emotional interview with Cody Rhodes was “not planned.” Redmond revealed that Cody was having a moment after Cena’s final bow and shared it with the post-show broadcast (see below).

A fan initially wrote, “Hey @Jackie_Redmond that was Emmy-winning, pure emotion-filled interview that seemed to happen purely by being right place at the right time. You nailed it with Cody. Amazing job.” Jackie Redmond later responded, “Hand to god, it really was not planned. Cody was having a moment and was gracious enough to share it with us. Class act.”

After Cena’s loss, Cody Rhodes and CM Punk entered the ring, handing Cena their belts and letting him take one last run around the ring with the titles he previously held.

Speaking to Redmond during the post-show, Cody Rhodes commented, “I’m really honored I could be here. And the good thing about WWE is, we go right back to work Monday. And it’s WWE without John Cena; what does that look like? Who steps up, I mean, it’s right there. Who steps up and fills those shoes? And I have a feeling it’s more than one person.”

Earlier in the night, Cody Rhodes was in action against NXT Champion Oba Femi in a non-title bout. The match ended in a no-contest after Rhodes’ bitter rival, Drew McIntyre, interfered, causing it to be thrown out.

Femi and Rhodes then retaliated against Drew McIntyre, teaming up against the former WWE Champion. They showed each other mutual respect and raised each other’s arms. It appears Cody will be revisiting his ongoing feud with McIntyre later on.
