On a recent episode of his podcast,“Grilling JR, Jim Ross was asked why the Midnight Express had not already received an induction into the WWE Hall of Fame, given that Jim Cornette was on stage helping to induct the Rock and Roll Express in a previous ceremony. Ross said the answer comes down to backstage politics.
Midnight Express member Dennis Condrey passed away recently at the age of 76, which leaves Stan Lane and Jim Cornette as the last two surviving members of the various iterations of the Midnight Express. Here are the highlights from JR’s comments:
On the Reason Midnight Express Isn’t in the WWE Hall of Fame:
“Just politics, I think. They certainly had been deserving of being in the WWE Hall of Fame without question. That’s not even debatable, in my view.”
On Dennis Condrey’s passing:
“At least we’re remembering Dennis today and appropriately. He deserves every accolade. He was so deserving, and he was a hell of a hand. He helped a lot of guys. He made matches better. There’s no doubt about that.”
