NBA and Philadelphia 76ers player Joel Embiid has been fined for using a famous gesture, best known as D-Generation X’s “Suck It” taunt, during Friday’s game between the 76ers and the Boston Celtics. The NBA announced that Embiid was fined $50,000 for using a “lewd gesture on the playing court.”

The announcement was made by NBA Head of Basketball Operations and Executive Vice President James Jones. However, Embiid is not too happy about the news, as he commented about the fine via social media.

Embiid argued that refs should now be fined for making the same gesture. He wrote on the announcement, “Y’all better start fining the refs for doing the ‘Lewd’, ‘blocking foul’ gesture since I’m not allowed to do it #NFL”

Joel Embiid has a history of using the D-Generation X throughout his career and during games. This isn’t the first time he’s been fined for using the gesture. He was previously fined $25,000 for using the gesture during an NBA game in January 2023.

Embiid’s antics have even caught the attention of WWE executive Triple H. After Embiid’s incident in January 2023, Triple H commented at the time, “Curious, @JoelEmbiid…If you wrote a bigger check now, could you get a volume discount to cover the rest of the season?? #IllChipIn #SuckIt.”

Also, after winning the Gold Medal with Team USA at the 2024 Olympics, he performed the gesture to the country of France (h/t Fightful).
